Intro: I was born and raised on Long Island, NY, in a well-to-do Jewish community with a great public school system (discovered in my first days in college). I have been a news junkie all my life, especially national political news.

Poli Sci was my first college major (even though I am a Geek by the grace of God). I have been a liberal Democrat since the KKK went Republican. I am open-minded to any good argument. Watching me argue with a MAGA Republican would make great theater. I live in Richmond, VA now, but I am flexible.

Religion: I am a “secular Jew" but increasingly observant. I am open to other religions when it comes to dating. Up to a point. If you chant, “Free Palestine from the river to the sea,” please move on.

Education: I am over-educated, an MA in English Lit despite literature not being a strong point. I have a logical and “scientific” mind, and I can be insufferable if you argue with me when you don’t know what you are talking about. Not everything is a matter of “opinion.” But, I am excruciatingly ignorant about most subjects and am smart enough to know when to shut up and listen and learn something new. I try to keep up with what’s going on in the world. I am the exception to "an old dog can't learn new tricks." Be warned, I'm an ex-pat NYer, so I can be a challenge (for the right woman, I will be worth the trouble!). I can be silly and serious, at the same moment. I believe in animal rights, I am a meat-eater, and I own and drive a gasoline powered automobile which makes me a damned hypocrite!

Sense of Humor: yes! Dry and quirky.

23AndMe says that I weigh 16 pounds less than the average man of my age and height. Go figure. I love a good hamburger more than a good steak. I love exotic cuisines, especially Indian, Greek, Thai, Turkish, Persian, pizza, tacos and a great hamburger. I love artichokes, asparagus, baked potatoes (the best excuses for the secret of French cooking, butter), ciabatta and olive oil, ice cream, chocolate and (Jewish) bacon above all else.

Entertainment: I own no TV. I borrow movie DVDs from my library.

I am a fan of Suggesting Rhythm, a Grateful Dead tribute band based in Richmond. I love live music. I attended half a dozen concerts of the Richmond Symphony this past season and will continue into the future. I raised myself on pre-pop music and love most of the classical classics. Dylan and Springsteen and Paul Simon. New found passion: Il Volo from Sicily.

Health: I am in better shape than most men in my cohort, by the grace of “god” (er, god genes and god luck).

Seasons: I like every season except the cold one (but I love snow). Grand lightning-filled thunderstorms make me come super-alive!
